Here's the thing: I have no idea what I'm doing with my life. I feel like this:
I've tried a bunch of different things, and was hoping to complete a college degree in an actual program. Instead, after 4 years of college (entering into my 5th), I will be finishing up come May with a degree in General Studies. It's not like I couldn't just make up my mind. After 2 years and a couple different majors, I finally figured out that Visual Communication would be something I'd love. Four semesters and a grueling Sophomore Advancement Review later, I was denied admission into the program. Sure, I could've tried again, but that's just another year of school loans and potentially another letdown later.
Instead, I've opted for the less painful General Studies degree complete with the promise of graduating this coming May.
People keep asking me what I'm going to do once I graduate. That question always stumps me. I would like to try a bunch of different things, and maybe do some traveling. So, the thing to do now is just to get to that point financially. I'd like to figure out how to market myself after completing college with a general studies degree, and my hopes are to use this blog to explore all the "general" skills I've acquired these past 4 years. I spent part of the summer assiting a family that I'm very close to in planning and executing a wedding reception for those who weren't able to attend their destination wedding. I designed the wedding invitations and took some raw footage of the ceremony and edited it into a watchable wedding video. I'll dedicate my next post to that summer project.
At this very moment, I'm preparing for my next class. Frankly, I'm not terribly excited about any of my classes, but the thing driving me this semester is the light at the end of the tunnel. So, off to my women's studies class! Well, maybe to Starbucks first.
